Day 1 : Darwin to Kakadu
National Park
We head to the Mary River wetlands
system, with the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles
in the southern hemisphere. As we arrive in Woolna Country
you we be greeted by traditional owners of the land, the Limilngan
- Wulna people. They will share their cultures including bush
tucker cooking, didgeridoo playing, basket weaving and spear
throwing. Get close (but not too close!) to 'salties' and
other wild creatures on a private billabong cruise. We arrive
at history rich Ubirr in time for sunset. You will see vivid
Aboriginal rock art that dates back over 20,000 years. Then
we head to our overnight bush camp in Kakadu. (LD)
Camp: Minimal Facility Campground
(Toilets/no showers) - Campsites are a mixture of bush camps
and semi permanent campsites (swags/ pop up tents) in the
dry season and permanent camps in the Green season.
Day 2 Kakadu National Park
There's 4WD action today as hit the track into Twin Falls.
Here we'll take an informative boat cruise with an Aboriginal
guide through Twin Falls Gorge. Our 4WD traverses through
sandy creeks into mighty Jim Jim Falls, where you'll have
the opportunity to cool off with a swim in the plunge pool.
We'll decide during the day which climb we take, but you'll
get to the top of either Twin or Jim Jim Falls today - it'll
be a rugged climb but worth it for the stunning views! (BLD)
